Which wage is the award based on?
The gratuity is calculated on the LAST BASIC WAGE — allowances are excluded (Article 54). The parties may agree a higher benefit; the statute sets only the minimum.

Frequently asked questions
Do allowances count toward the end-of-service award in Qatar?
It depends on the law: in Qatar the wage basis is "basic wage only, excluding allowances". See "Which wage is the award based on?" above for details.
Is the award lower if I resign?
No. The labour law in Qatar does not distinguish between resignation and termination when calculating the award — the result is the same either way.
When and how is the award paid?
Gratuity is due at the date of termination, plus payment in lieu of untaken annual leave (Articles 54, 81). The employer may deduct amounts the worker owes him.
